Every dot is a club plotted at its own recorded coordinates. There is no basemap underneath — the coast draws itself and the interior stays empty, because that is where the clubs are and where they are not. 10,677 clubs sit on 5,949 distinct points at this scale; where several share an address or a street they land on the same dot. 1 outlying club is listed but sit off this frame.

How this list was assembled

  1. One Overpass query per state, so a club's state is known by construction and never inferred.
  2. Anything that is ground rather than an organisation — a pitch, a court, a municipal pool — is dropped. 6,655 records did not survive that test.
  3. Records sharing a name within 250 m are merged as one venue, keeping the richer copy — 248 here.
  4. Each club is matched to the nearest named suburb inside its own state, capped by settlement size, or left unassigned.
  5. Nothing is ranked, weighted or promoted. No club can pay to move.
region = the query it came from (certain)
suburb = nearest named place, same region, within cap
rank    = none

No club paid to be on this page — not a gym chain, not a league, not a council. That is the whole idea.
